Faith and Practice As a congregation in the Presbyterian tradition, our church holds to the threefold summary of doctrine known as "The Westminster Standards." These documents were composed between 1642 and 1648 by the Westminster Assembly, a gathering of Puritan and Presbyterian theologians convened by the English Parliament. We believe these statements represent an excellent summary of Christian theology. Though entire agreement with these statements is not necessary for membership at Matthews OPC, it is a requirement that all officers of our church "receive and adopt the Confession of Faith and Catechisms of this church as containing the system of doctrine taught in the Holy Scriptures." The Westminster Confession of Faith Additionally, as a congregation which is part of the denomination The Orthodox Presbyterian Church, our church patterns its worship and life according to The OPC Book of Church Order.
